Reflecting the complex spatial territories that were produced by transmitters and their environment, the work takes the form of a radio sculpture that permeates the gallery. Moving through the space using handheld radios, the sculpture presents an archive of audience memories, border pirate radio stations and TV deflector systems built by communities to capture and retransmit signals from across the border.

	Cornaleena

Cornaleena began as a collaboration between David Kitt and author Kevin Barry set in a fictional town in the west of Ireland, a bit inland, a bit spooked, everyone there is bit rattled. The air is heavy with a long-gone lonesome blues but there’s a magic too, and an unusual amount of floatation tanks. Cornaleena is an evolving modular project with an expanding cast of collaborators that will slowly piece together the inhabitants and mood of this strange town before it disappears for good. For this special MusicTown iteration of the project we have teamed up with filmmakers Frank Sweeney and Cóilín O’Connell to make a short impressionistic film featuring contributions from Jennifer Walshe, Katie Kim, Jonny Dillon, Sinéad Lynch of Landless and folk-singer and legend Seán Garvey.

The project is funded by Musictown, the Arts Council of Ireland and Dublin City Council. Archival material courtesy of the National Folklore Collection.

All I believe happened there was vision

A film in search of the Irish Otherworld, a place where there is neither sickness nor age nor death; where happiness lasts forever and where food and drink do not diminish when consumed. It is the home of a people who value material wealth only as a basis for right living, where fields and villages are joyous with the sounds of industry and the laughter of happy maidens. In short, it is the best small country in the world in which to do business, raise a family and grow old.
The project emerged from a period of research in partnership with the National Folklore Archive at UCD, exploring representations of the otherworld in the oral tradition. The film searches out these otherworld's in the modern Irish state, surveying free zones, data centres, utopian housing projects and large infrastructural developments. Taking the form of a travelogue we visit these sites of mythological importance and examine their role in the formation of a national imaginary.

	Made Ground
Made Ground is a collaboration between artists Eva Richardson McCrea, Frank Sweeney and the Dublin Dockworkers Preservation Society (DDWPS).
Taking the DDWPS online archive of over 3,500 photographs as its starting point, the work draws on a range of source material including interviews, institutional and personal archives, community made films, documents and original footage. The script is composed from a collage of source material including academic papers and books, archival videos, government documents, property brochures, speculative documents produced by professional services firms, interviews and community development reports.
A two channel video installation, Made Ground considers the movement from manual to knowledge based forms of labour in the Docklands, the changing architecture of the area, and the impact of these changes on the surrounding communities.-
Purchased for the Arts Council Collection: Collection of the Arts Council of Ireland.
Made Ground was supported by The Arts Council’s Artist in the Community Scheme, managed by Create – the national development agency for collaborative arts.

Repeater USB Data Dump (2019)

Repeater Data Dump by End Of An Era

The humble and everyday auspices of the Debit/Social Social Security card, the physical medium for some of the most important data necessary for functioning within contemporary society. These modern artifacts have been liberated from there prescribed use, a USB memory stick discretely implanted within the format, for aesthetic and counter-surveilnace purposes. It is imperative not to let this device fall in to the wrong hands...
The contents of this card is a digital data dump. Unfinished manifestos, polished pop ballads, never seen video classics, useless html code, audio confessions, low resolution photography, stolen recipes, industrial gronk music and more. New material has been produced and retrieved while off grid in a safe house within Cork city limits (tank u Cork Sound Fair): rare Ballincollig dub-plates, Keith Flint tributes, what your brother thinks is the worst song he's ever heard, stolen secret vegan cheese recipes, subliminal Keygen messages and so on. Combined with this is a vast range of data in varying formats has been received from collaborators and co-conspirators; the Human League for androids, Cobh Sunsets, interviews pertaining to secret data centres on Dublins outskirts, documents and folders rescued from obscurity and much more...
You are encouraged to add and edit each USB as you see fit. Have fun navigating the contents!
Transmit and wreak havoc on the programmers!

Palace of Purification (2021)'Palace of Purification' is a video manifesto for filth, presented by a beloved denizen of 'Jigsaw,' an anarchist social centre in Dublin (which closed in 2021). The film is a collaboration between Claudine Chen, Michelle Doyle, Kerry Guinan, Megan Scott & Frank Sweeney.

Cornaleena (2021)
Cornaleena began as a collaboration between David Kitt and author Kevin Barry set in a fictional town in the west of Ireland, a bit inland, a bit spooked, everyone there is bit rattled. The air is heavy with a long-gone lonesome blues but there’s a magic too, and an unusual amount of floatation tanks. Cornaleena is an evolving modular project with an expanding cast of collaborators that will slowly piece together the inhabitants and mood of this strange town before it disappears for good.

Cornaleena Trailer from Frank Sweeney on Vimeo.

The film is a collaboration between Cóilín O'Connell and Frank Sweeney with words and music are from Kevin Barry, David Kitt, Jennifer Walshe, Katie Kim, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Sinead Lynch, Jonny Dillon, Sean Garvey and Mary Margaret O'Hara.
